Come join us on a tour of the Historic Fourth Ward School Museum in Virginia City!
Our group's visit will include an educational tour led by the Museum's professional staff and docents. The tour includes a Scavenger Hunt provided by the Museum for an interactive, fun, and exploratory experience.
Our group will learn:
-the history of the 1876 schoolhouse which was built as a monument to and investment in education,
-what student life was like for the children of Virginia City, NV from the 1870s to the 1930s,
-the state-of-the-art features the Fourth Ward School had which make it a treasure today, and
-an overview of the history of the Comstock Lode and Virginia City surrounding the school.
This tour will be approximately an hour long (including the Scavenger Hunt activity).
Eagle will have TWO TOUR OPTIONS available to sign up for. When you sign up, be sure to select the field trip tour time you want to take and arrive 15 minutes before that tour begins to check in with Megan. We will meet outside the school house and enter a couple minutes before the tour begins. Keep in mind this is an out of town field trip - you'll need to allow for travel time.
First Tour Option: 10:00 am - please arrive at 9:45am to check in.
Second Tour Option:11:15am - pleaes arrive at 11:00am to check in.
Both tours are capped at 45 participants. Children 3 years old and younger are free.
There is NO FOOD and DRINKS allowed in the museum. Please leave all water bottles, sippy cups, and snacks in your cars. Parents you will be responsible for assisting your students with the scavenger hunt and managing behavior. Pencils and clip boards will be provided - please no pens inside the school house.
After the tours feel free to stroll the streets of Virginia City!
